HMS Accessibility Statement

Updated on October 12, 2026

Have More Space (H-M-S, LLC) wants everyone to be able to read this site, learn about the work, get in touch, and support it without barriers. This statement explains the standard we work to, where havemore.space stands today, what we know still needs work, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

1. Our commitment

We aim for havemore.space to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 AA is the level most laws and procurement standards reference, and it is the level we design and test against. Consent is about access and agency, and we hold our own website to the same idea.

2. Conformance status

havemore.space is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard. The remaining gaps are listed in section 4; everything else we tested meets Level A and Level AA.

3. What we have done

  • Every page declares its language, has a descriptive title, and a main content landmark, with a “Skip to main content” link as the first thing a keyboard reaches.
  • Every control works with a keyboard and shows a visible focus indicator, including the mobile menu button and the footer links.
  • The Connect, Donate and Thank-you forms announce errors to screen readers, tie each message to its field, move focus to the first field that needs attention, and keep the policy pop-up inside the form so you are not sent away mid-way.
  • Pop-up dialogs keep keyboard focus inside while open, close with the Escape key, and return focus to where you were.
  • Links that open a new tab say so to screen readers; internal links always open in the same tab.
  • Text scales with your browser settings, the layout reflows down to 320 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling, nothing flashes, and animations are disabled when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Policies are published as readable web pages rather than PDF downloads.

4. Known limitations

Our October 2026 assessment found the following. We have chosen to resolve the visual items together with our designer so that the fix fits the brand rather than patching it. Each is open and owned.

  • Color contrast of accent text (success criterion 1.4.3). Small blue labels, tags and step numbers, light text on blue buttons and panels, and muted grey captions measure between about 2.2:1 and 3.8:1 against their backgrounds instead of the required 4.5:1. Headings, body text and the main calls to action in dark ink pass.
  • Footer text (success criterion 1.4.3). The column titles, tagline and description in the dark footer are set in a light grey below 4.5:1. The copyright line and the policy links were corrected in October 2026; the rest is with our designer.

5. Third-party content

Some parts of the site are provided by other companies and we do not control their code: the Instagram feed and the flipbook preview (Elfsight), the merch store and checkout (Shopify), donation payments (Stripe Checkout), call scheduling (Calendly), and the book listing (Amazon). We select partners that publish their own accessibility commitments. If you have difficulty completing a purchase, a donation or a booking, email us and we will help you another way.

6. Compatibility

The site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on desktop and mobile, with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA, and TalkBack, with keyboard-only navigation, and with browser zoom up to 400 percent. It relies on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

7. How we assess

We evaluate the site ourselves using automated checks (axe-core) on every page and in every form state, manual keyboard testing, contrast measurement of the design palette, and reflow checks at 320 pixels. An assessment on October 10, 2026 covered all fifteen public pages; the structural, keyboard, heading and motion issues were fixed and re-tested (the scrolling phrase bands now have a pause button that appears on hover or keyboard focus), and the color items above are with our designer. We review the site again whenever a page or form changes and at least once a year.

8. Feedback and contact

If you find something on havemore.space that is hard to use, or you need any of our content in another format, please tell us. Email compliance@havemore.space with the page address and a short description of the problem. We aim to reply within five business days and to fix confirmed barriers in the next site update.

9. Formal complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can ask for your concern to be escalated by replying to our email and saying so. We will review it again and tell you what we decide and why.
